Array Tomography Organisers: Jemima Burden, Martina Schifferer and Kristina Micheva
The idea of tissue slicing to understand body structure has been carried over to modern vEM approaches. Amongst them, array tomography (AT) methods are based on serial ultramicrotomy, collection onto a support and serial imaging. While there are different supports and approaches for collection and imaging, all AT techniques result in a storable tissue library which provides flexibility in imaging.
With this Focus Interest Group (FIG) we would like to bring together all those interested in AT, to discuss, share knowledge and expertise, optimize workflows, build on the advantages of the AT techniques, and explore novel fields of application.
We welcome interested parties from academia, research, core facilities and industry.

Richard Weinberg from the University of North Carolina
Kristina Micheva from Stanford University
Share their approaches for sample preparation and immunolabeling for AT.
June/July 2023 We had two introductory sessions for all those interested, where we shared the preliminary results of a survey we ran prior to the meeting, introduced ourselves, discussed how this group could support each other with AT needs, whilst complementing existing vEM working groups. (26/06/23 and 07/07/23)
During these meetings we ran a poll to understand priorities for topics for future meetings, and these poll results have been collated and will be shared soon, together with a date for the next meeting.
